I'm an Alaskan, born and raised, with a passion for all things creative and wild. Though I also work in countless other mediums, my passions are watercolor, drawing, and photography. I first fell in love with watercolor for its spontaneity and stubbornness, and since then I have deepened my relationship with the medium through play and study. Drawing, being the foundation for watercolor, is a profoundly expressive medium in its own right. Photography allows me to capture my inspirations and interact with my subject matter with rewarding immediacy. I find that all three media complement one another and contribute to my overall vision.
As an artist and human being I’ve been blessed with a primary relationship to Alaska. Her landscapes are profoundly beautiful and communicate deep wisdom to the observer who cares to listen to her. Her seasons and moods are ever-fresh and full of inspiration for the artist. I hope in my work to give testament to the nourishing beauty of this great land, and in so doing to advocate on behalf of its wild spaces and wonderful communities. |
